Brunswijk praised the project team for their resilience in overcoming environmental challenges to deliver high-quality results and expressed confidence that they would complete the remaining work on schedule.

Spanning the Suriname and Marowijne Rivers in Saramacca province, the project integrates solar power, energy storage, and diesel generation to serve 45 forest villages. It includes a 5.349 MW solar capacity, 18.6 MWh energy storage, and 2.813 MVA diesel generation capacity, expected to produce 8,780 MWh of electricity annually. Since its start, the project has seen three contract signings and amendments, covering nine sites.

The Botopasi Microgrid Project is the second completed site in this phase, featuring a 1,020 kW solar capacity, 2,580 kWh of energy storage, and an 800 kVA diesel generator, generating 1,600 MWh annually. The project will provide reliable electricity to 11 forest villages, improving local living standards and establishing a strong energy base for social development.
