Ameresco, Inc., a leading energy solutions provider focused on supporting the energy transition, along with officials from the City of Pendleton, Oregon, will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of a significant solar canopy project. The 240 kW solar canopy is installed at the Cityโ€™s Wastewater Treatment and Resource Recovery Facility (WWTRRF) and is the first project of its kind in the region.

It is designed to produce up to 325,000 kWh of electricity annually, which will offset about 30% of the facilityโ€™s energy consumption. This project is part of a larger initiative at the Pendleton WWTRRF that includes various renewable energy and efficiency upgrades aimed at lowering the facilityโ€™s carbon footprint and operational costs. Future plans include adding a battery energy storage system (BESS) to improve energy management capabilities further.

The multiphase infrastructure improvement was delivered through an Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) with Ameresco, which provided price and performance guarantees while ensuring the involvement of disadvantaged and local businesses. This project highlights Pendletonโ€™s commitment to energy efficiency, resilience, and environmental innovation. The ribbon-cutting event will take place on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at 4300 SW Houtama Road, Pendleton, Oregon, with parking available onsite.

Key participants include Amerescoโ€™s Kathleen Kelleher, Account Executive, and Brian Solan, Vice President of West Business Development, alongside City of Pendleton officials such as Wastewater Superintendent Kyle Willman. The ceremony will feature remarks from city leaders and project partners, the ribbon cutting itself, and a tour of the solar canopy, with opportunities for interviews with Ameresco executives and city officials. This celebration marks a critical investment in energy infrastructure that could serve as a model for other cities moving forward.
