Japanese electrical measurement solutions manufacturer Hioki Corporation has officially announced the establishment of its new subsidiary, Hioki Electric Vietnam, marking a strategic move to support Vietnam’s green energy transition and long-term sustainability goals.
The launch of the Vietnam office makes it the 11th international subsidiary of the company, reflecting Hioki’s global expansion strategy and commitment to advancing carbon neutrality across Asia and beyond.
Speaking at the announcement, Mr. Takahiro Okazawa, President of Hioki Corporation, emphasized Vietnam’s rising importance in the global green energy market. “We consider the Vietnamese market a key growth opportunity,” he said. “The government’s strong push for carbon neutrality, along with increasing foreign investment in sustainable industries, makes Vietnam a pivotal player in the region’s energy transition.”
Hioki’s entry comes at a time when Vietnam is accelerating efforts to meet its net-zero target by 2050, a commitment made at the COP26 climate summit. The country has since implemented a broad set of reforms and incentives to attract renewable energy investments and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
The new subsidiary aims to play a supportive role in this transformation by providing advanced testing and measurement technologies crucial for renewable energy development and grid modernization. Over the long term, Hioki intends to actively participate in building and maintaining renewable energy sources in Vietnam, contributing to cleaner, more efficient power systems.
As a first step, the company will focus on expanding its sales network across Vietnam, responding to growing demand from both domestic and international manufacturers. “Vietnam is seeing a surge of investment from companies in China, South Korea, the U.S., and Europe,” Mr. Okazawa noted. “By establishing a local presence, we can better serve our partners and contribute to Vietnam’s sustainable development ambitions.”
The establishment of Hioki Electric Vietnam highlights a broader trend of Japanese and global firms aligning their operations with Southeast Asia’s green transition, signaling confidence in the region’s commitment to climate resilience and clean energy innovation.
