The Honโble Governor of Punjab and Administrator of U.T. Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, inaugurated a 55 kWp rooftop solar power plant along with a rainwater harvesting system at the Officersโ Rest House of the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) in Sector 35-B, Chandigarh. The event was attended by Shri Manoj Tripathi, Chairman, BBMB, and senior officials of the board.
The newly installed solar facility is expected to generate nearly 77,088 units of clean electricity annually. By reducing dependence on conventional energy sources, the initiative will help cut carbon emissions while promoting the use of renewable energy. Speaking at the occasion, the Governor praised the project, describing it as a meaningful step toward environmental sustainability and a healthier future.
Chairman Manoj Tripathi highlighted that BBMBโs investment in solar power demonstrates its commitment to energy independence and supports Indiaโs broader renewable energy goals. In addition to clean energy generation, the rainwater harvesting system set up at the site is designed to conserve water and recharge groundwater levels.
Together, these initiatives underscore BBMBโs focus on integrated sustainable development. By combining renewable energy adoption with water conservation, the organization aims to reduce its ecological footprint while contributing to national efforts in clean energy and resource management.
