The global electricity forum, Electricity Connect 2025, will take place from November 19–21, 2025, at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC). Initiated by the Indonesian Electricity Society (MKI), the event, themed “Strengthening Energy Resilience, Powering Sovereignty,” will gather regulators, industry leaders, and innovators to discuss energy security and accelerate the nation’s transition to sustainable electricity systems.
The forum, part of a series of events commemorating the 80th National Electricity Day, will feature discussion panels, technology exhibitions, and partnership and investment opportunities spanning the entire electricity value chain — from generation and transmission to distribution and digitalization.
Government Emphasizes Energy Resilience and Sovereignty
Wanhar, Director of Electricity Program Development at the Directorate General of Electricity, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, highlighted the sector’s critical role in economic growth and national independence.
“Electricity Connect 2025 will be a valuable forum to share ideas, experiences, and collaborations that bring Indonesia closer to its ideals: energy sovereignty and resilience in facing global challenges,” he said.
Wanhar outlined Indonesia’s energy transition roadmap under the National Electricity General Plan (RUKN), targeting 21% new and renewable energy (EBT) by 2030, rising to 41% by 2040 and 74% by 2060. He emphasized that the transition focuses not only on clean energy adoption but also on ensuring resilience, sovereignty, and sustainability in the electricity sector.
PLN Pledges Support for National Energy Transition
Representing PLN, the state-owned electricity company, Suroso Isnandar, Director of Project Management and New and Renewable Energy, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the forum and the broader energy transition.
“We fully support Electricity Connect 2025 as a momentum to implement our energy transition program immediately,” he said.
Suroso explained that the 2025–2034 Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL), officially launched by the government, will guide Indonesia’s electricity expansion, requiring an additional 69.5 gigawatts (GW) of capacity over the next decade, with 76% sourced from renewable energy. The plan is projected to support national economic growth of up to 8%, contingent on co-investment, co-innovation, and collaboration.
Industry Leaders Highlight Indonesia’s Strategic Role
Chairani Rachmatullah, MKI Deputy Chairperson I, emphasized that Electricity Connect 2025 reinforces Indonesia’s ambition to develop a technically strong, economically sovereign, and technologically independent electricity system, positioning the country as a regional leader in energy resilience.
Arsyadany G. Akmalaputri, Chairperson of the organizing committee and Secretary General of MKI, stated that the forum will unite stakeholders to define the future direction of national energy.
“This conference and exhibition provide opportunities to share insights, foster partnerships, and strengthen the renewable energy transition across Southeast Asia,” he said, stressing that the 2025–2034 RUPTL represents the greenest energy plan to date.
Electricity Connect 2025 is expected to be a pivotal platform for collaboration, innovation, and investment, advancing Indonesia’s clean energy ambitions and enhancing regional energy leadership.
