Under the agreement, solar power generated from the captive plant will be used to supply electricity to ADM’s solar module and solar cell manufacturing facility in Aligarh. The move is expected to substantially reduce the company’s reliance on conventional grid power while ensuring access to cost-effective and reliable green energy for its high-capacity production lines.

The 10 MW captive solar project will support ADM’s long-term strategy of building a low-carbon and energy-efficient manufacturing ecosystem. By opting for open access captive power, the company aims to achieve greater price stability, energy security, and operational cost optimisation.

The development also aligns with the Government of India’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, which encourage sustainable practices and domestic manufacturing. Transitioning to solar-powered operations is expected to help ADM lower its carbon footprint while setting a sustainability benchmark within the solar manufacturing sector.

Avener Green Pvt. Ltd., which specialises in utility-scale and open access solar projects, will be responsible for developing and supplying power from the captive solar plant. The company will ensure long-term performance, regulatory compliance, and reliable power supply.

Commenting on the development, ADM said the decision to power its solar module and cell manufacturing with renewable energy reflects its commitment to sustainability and responsible energy consumption. The company added that the initiative reinforces its position not only as a solar equipment manufacturer but also as a clean energy consumer.

The agreement represents a key milestone in ADM’s sustainability roadmap and highlights the growing adoption of captive renewable energy solutions by India’s manufacturing sector.
