RenewableUK has announced the appointment of Tara Singh as its next Chief Executive Officer. Singh will officially assume the role on 23 February 2026, taking the helm of the UK’s leading renewable energy trade association.
Tara Singh brings over 20 years of experience across government, global energy companies, and public affairs. She currently leads a major public affairs practice at Burson, advising renewable energy and infrastructure organisations. Her previous roles include senior positions at Shell Renewable and Energy Solutions and serving as Energy and Environment Adviser to the UK Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street.
Commenting on her appointment, Singh said she is proud to champion the UK’s clean energy sector, which generates half of the nation’s electricity, supports hundreds of thousands of jobs, and has saved consumers over £100 billion since 2010. She added that her priority will be to strengthen collaboration between government and industry, drive growth, enhance energy security, lower bills, and attract investment across the UK.
Singh will work alongside Jane Cooper, RenewableUK’s Deputy CEO, who has led the association since February last year. Cooper welcomed Singh’s appointment, highlighting her strategic expertise and experience navigating complex government and media landscapes. Cooper also noted that RenewableUK is starting the year with a record level of new clean energy capacity eligible for current generation auctions.
RenewableUK Chair Laura Fleming congratulated Singh on her appointment, emphasising that she steps into the role at a crucial time for the sector. Fleming said the Board looks forward to Singh expanding the association’s membership and advocating for the delivery of the UK’s clean energy infrastructure.
Singh’s appointment marks a key leadership transition for RenewableUK as the organisation continues to drive the country’s energy transition and economic growth in the renewable sector.
