Genus Power Infrastructures Limited has crossed a major global milestone, surpassing 26 million smart meter deployments worldwide, further strengthening its position as a technology and execution partner for utilities advancing digital grid infrastructure.

The company said the achievement reflects its growing role in large-scale smart metering programmes across multiple regions, supported by its integrated capabilities in advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) solutions.

A major contributor to the milestone has been Genus Powerโ€™s participation in Indiaโ€™s national grid modernisation initiatives. As an AMI service provider, the company has successfully installed more than 10 million smart meters across the country. The large-scale execution of multi-year utility programmes has enabled the company to build operational expertise that it aims to replicate in international markets where utilities are entering early or second-phase smart meter deployments.

With more than three decades of industry experience, Genus Power provides end-to-end AMI solutions covering smart electricity, gas and water meters, communication networks, proprietary head-end systems (HES), meter data management (MDM) platforms and mobile applications designed for utility operations. These systems enable remote monitoring, real-time data analytics, demand response capabilities and improved grid management.

The companyโ€™s innovation ecosystem is anchored by a government-recognised research and development infrastructure in India. Its manufacturing network includes six integrated production facilities located in Jaipur, Haridwar, Guwahati and Kotputli, with a combined annual production capacity exceeding 18 million meters. These facilities are equipped with automated surface mount technology (SMT) lines, advanced moulding systems and testing infrastructure designed to ensure internationally compliant manufacturing standards.

Through its manufacturing and operational ecosystem, the company supports more than 16,000 direct and indirect jobs across its value chain.

Beyond its domestic market, Genus Power has expanded its presence across regions including Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, the Pacific region and SAARC markets. The company works with utilities and system integrators to deliver scalable AMI solutions tailored to local regulatory frameworks and climatic conditions.

Its global operations are supported by a research and software engineering workforce of more than 550 professionals, enabling the delivery of end-to-end lifecycle solutions for smart metering infrastructure.

Genus Power is also integrating artificial intelligence-driven technologies across its manufacturing and deployment processes to improve operational productivity, forecasting accuracy and decision-making. The company is additionally developing advanced analytics platforms designed to support utilities in loss detection, billing optimisation and asset performance monitoring.

Jitendra Kumar Agarwal, Joint Managing Director of Genus Power, said the milestone reflects the growing confidence utilities have placed in the companyโ€™s smart metering capabilities as electricity networks transition toward digital and data-driven operations.

He added that Genus aims to support utilities globally with scalable and future-ready smart metering technologies as power systems increasingly adopt smart grid infrastructure.

With capabilities to execute projects across capital expenditure (Capex), operational expenditure (OpEx) and total expenditure (Totex) models, the company said it is well positioned to support utilities pursuing long-term smart grid transformation programmes worldwide.
