Apraava Energy has announced the successful commissioning of the 22-km 400 kV Fatehgarh IV transmission line along with a 400/220 kV pooling substation in Barmer. The project forms a key component of the transmission scheme designed to evacuate renewable energy from the Renewable Energy Zones (REZ) in Rajasthan under Phase-III Part A1.
The infrastructure is expected to support Indiaโs broader clean energy ambitions, including the national target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
Developed through Fatehgarh IV Transmission Limited, the project has a renewable power transmission capacity of 2.5 GW supported by five 500 MVA transformers. The newly commissioned transmission line connects to Apraavaโs Fatehgarh-III substation, strengthening renewable power evacuation capabilities from the JaisalmerโBarmer region.
The project was executed under challenging conditions, including extreme weather, land acquisition complexities, right-of-way constraints and temporary work disruptions linked to border-related tensions in the region. Despite these hurdles, the transmission scheme was completed within a comparatively short timeline and is considered one of the fastest projects delivered among those awarded under the REZ Phase III programme in Rajasthan.
Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, Managing Director of Apraava Energy, said the commissioning marks a significant milestone for the company as it represents its first large-scale greenfield transmission project. He noted that the infrastructure will strengthen Rajasthanโs transmission network and enable reliable dispatch of renewable electricity to demand centres across the country.
Apraava Energy currently operates three power transmission assets spanning approximately 516 km across Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland and Manipur, with a total substation capacity of about 3.5 GW.
The company is also developing three additional greenfield transmission projects currently under construction, comprising around 470 km of transmission lines and substations with a combined capacity of nearly 8 GW. These projects include approximately 430 km of 400 kV and 765 kV double-circuit transmission lines in Rajasthan supported by a 4ร1500 MVA 765/400 kV grid pooling station, as well as a 40-km 765 kV double-circuit transmission line and a 2ร1500 MVA 765/400 kV grid substation in Madhya Pradesh.
In addition to its transmission business, Apraava Energy maintains a strong renewable energy presence in Rajasthan, where it operates three wind power projects with a combined capacity exceeding 250 MW and is currently constructing three solar power projects totalling 550 MW.
The company is also active in advanced metering infrastructure deployment, with an order to install more than 1.1 million smart meters across the state. Beyond its energy operations, Apraava supports water conservation initiatives in the Thar Desert and runs education programmes aimed at reintegrating approximately 3,000 out-of-school girls into formal education in the Fatehgarh block.
