Torrent Power Limited has commissioned a 322 MWp ground-mounted, decentralized solar portfolio across 50 locations and 14 talukas in Maharashtra’s Nashik district, strengthening its renewable energy presence in the state.
The project has been developed by Torrent Green Energy Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Torrent Power, under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY) 2.0. The project supports feeder-level solarisation under Component-C of the PM-KUSUM scheme.
The electricity generated from the solar portfolio will be supplied to Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
The decentralized solar projects are expected to provide daytime electricity to agricultural feeders, while improving local grid efficiency and helping reduce distribution losses. The development also supports Maharashtra’s efforts to expand renewable energy generation and solarise agricultural electricity supply.
Torrent Power is part of the ₹49,000 crore Torrent Group and operates as an integrated power utility with a generation portfolio spanning gas, renewable and coal-based assets. The company currently has approximately 6.66 GWp of operational generation capacity, including 2.2 GWp of renewable capacity.
Torrent Power also has approximately 9.16 GW of generation capacity under construction, comprising around 4.56 GWp of renewable projects, 3 GW of pumped storage projects and 1.6 GW of coal-based capacity.
With the addition of the 322 MWp Maharashtra portfolio, Torrent Power continues to expand its renewable energy footprint while supporting the decentralisation and solarisation of India’s power distribution infrastructure.
