REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd. (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Ltd., has handed over Luhri Power Transmission Limited, a project-specific Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), to the successful bidder, Terralight Solar Energy Tinwari Private Limited. The handover took place on August 21, 2026.
The SPV will be responsible for facilitating the development of the transmission system required to evacuate power from the Sunni Dam Hydroelectric Power Project (SDHEP) and Luhri Stage-I Hydroelectric Power Project (LHEP-I). The transmission project will be developed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.
The SPV was formally handed over by Rajkumar Sonkar, HoD (CS), RECPDCL, to Nitin Mahajan, General Manager (Bidding), Terralight Solar Energy Tinwari Private Limited. Senior officials from RECPDCL, Terralight Solar Energy Tinwari Private Limited and Central Transmission Utility of India Ltd. were also present during the handover.
The transmission scheme includes the establishment of a 400/220 kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Nange Pooling Station in Himachal Pradesh. It will also include a 400 kV double-circuit transmission line between Nange Pooling Station and Koldam, covering approximately 50 kilometres. Several other associated transmission works will also be undertaken as part of the project.
The project is aimed at creating the required transmission infrastructure for the evacuation of electricity generated by the upcoming hydroelectric projects in the region. The transmission system is planned to be commissioned by October 15, 2029, in line with the scheduled commissioning of the Sunni Dam and Luhri Stage-I hydro projects.
The estimated cost of the transmission project is approximately Rs. 839.55 crore. Its timely completion is expected to support the reliable evacuation and integration of hydropower into the electricity grid.
