Neuron Energy, a prominent EV battery manufacturer known for its lithium-ion solutions, has announced its foray into the grid-scale energy storage segment with the commissioning of a new Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing facility in Talegaon, Maharashtra.
The facility, developed with an investment of ₹100 crore, marks a strategic expansion beyond electric mobility into large-scale energy infrastructure. Spread across 7 acres, the plant is designed as a fully automated, robotic manufacturing unit focused on producing containerised BESS solutions.
Once fully operational, the facility is expected to achieve an annual production capacity of 5 GWh, with the ability to manufacture up to 1,000 containerised BESS units annually. These modular systems are intended for deployment across solar and grid applications, enabling efficient storage of excess energy and ensuring supply during peak demand periods.
Commenting on the development, Pratik Kamdar stated that the company’s entry into grid-scale storage aligns with the growing demand for reliable energy storage infrastructure amid rising renewable energy adoption in India. He emphasized that the Talegaon facility will support the development of high-performance, large-format storage systems for both domestic and international markets.
In addition to strengthening manufacturing capabilities, the project is expected to generate over 500 direct and indirect employment opportunities, spanning engineering, operations, system integration, and technical services.
The company’s go-to-market strategy will primarily target solar developers, commercial and industrial (C&I) customers, and utilities, with a projected business distribution of 60% domestic and 40% export markets.
The commissioning of the Talegaon facility represents a key milestone in Neuron Energy’s transition from a mobility-focused battery manufacturer to a comprehensive energy solutions provider, supporting India’s broader clean energy and grid modernisation goals.
