Sunview Group Berhad has announced that its consortium with Cypark Renewable Energy Sdn. Bhd. has secured a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) for a large-scale floating solar project in Malaysia.
The contract, awarded by TNB Power Generation Sdn. Bhd., involves the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) of a 595 MWac floating solar photovoltaic (PV) plant integrated with a battery energy storage system (BESS) at Kenyir Lake in Terengganu.
Valued at RM1.962 billion, the project marks a significant milestone in Malaysia’s renewable energy expansion, particularly in the floating solar segment. The scope includes full lifecycle delivery—from design and engineering to testing and commissioning of the facility.
The consortium, known as CRE-Sunview, operates as a joint venture with a 60% stake held by Cypark Renewable Energy and 40% by Sunview’s subsidiary, Fabulous Sunview Sdn. Bhd. The project is scheduled to commence on June 2, 2026, with a targeted completion date of September 29, 2028.
Tenaga Nasional Berhad’s generation arm, TNB Genco, is spearheading the initiative as part of broader efforts to diversify Malaysia’s energy mix and scale up sustainable power infrastructure.
The company stated that the project is expected to contribute positively to Sunview’s future earnings throughout its execution period. It also noted that the risks associated with the project remain within standard operational parameters for projects of this scale.
The Board of Sunview affirmed that the contract aligns with the company’s core business strategy and serves its long-term growth objectives, without impacting shareholder structure or requiring additional approvals.
