Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has invited bids for a major transmission project under “Package TL01,” aimed at strengthening India’s renewable energy infrastructure. This project is an important part of the evacuation system for the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Phase-IV, also known as the Barmer Complex, which is planned to handle around 6 GW of solar power capacity. The development is being executed under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route, reflecting the government’s focus on transparent and competitive procurement in the power sector.

The scope of the project is large and technically detailed. It includes the Loop-In Loop-Out (LILO) of both circuits of the 400 kV Fatehgarh-IV to Barmer-I transmission line at the Barmer-II Power Station. Along with this, a new 400 kV double-circuit (D/c) quad transmission line will be constructed between Barmer-II and Barmer-I. One of the most significant parts of the project is the development of Part-I of an 800 kV HVDC Bipole line using advanced Hexa lapwing conductors. This HVDC line will connect Barmer-II with South Kalamb and is designed to transmit large amounts of renewable power over long distances with minimal transmission losses.

The tender was issued on April 7, 2026, with Reference Number CC/T/W-TW/DOM/A04/26/04607 and RFX Number 5002005273. Interested bidders can access the documents through the PRANIT Portal, which is POWERGRID’s official e-tendering platform. Although the total project cost has not been disclosed, bidders are required to pay a non-refundable tender fee of ₹25,000. Notably, the Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) has been kept at zero, which may encourage wider participation from eligible companies.

The bidding schedule is quite tight, highlighting the urgency of the project. Document sales will remain open until April 15, 2026. The last date for submission of bids is April 17, 2026, by 11:00 AM, and the technical bids will be opened at 11:30 AM on the same day.

The project falls under the “Works” category in the power sector and is located in Rajasthan. It is being managed by Piyush Kumar Gupta, Manager (CS) at POWERGRID’s Gurugram office. As an open tender, it allows participation from qualified domestic firms. This initiative is expected to strengthen the Western Grid and support the integration of large-scale solar energy into India’s national power system.
