Vikram Solar has achieved a major milestone by crossing 10 GW in cumulative global solar module deployments, marking a significant step in its growth and contribution to the clean energy transition. This achievement reflects the company’s steady expansion and increasing role in both domestic and international solar markets.
The 10 GW deployment is equivalent to more than 25 million solar modules installed worldwide. This capacity is sufficient to power over 5 million homes in India, highlighting the scale of its impact on the country’s energy needs. The company has managed to double its cumulative deployment from 5 GW to 10 GW in just two years, showing strong demand for its products and consistent growth momentum.
India’s solar sector has been growing rapidly and has already crossed 150 GW of installed capacity. Vikram Solar has played an important role in this growth by providing reliable and efficient solar modules. With nearly two decades of experience, the company has built a strong reputation in manufacturing and project execution, supporting large-scale solar adoption across the country.
While most of its installations are in India, the company has also expanded its presence globally. Around 1.5 GW of its total deployment comes from exports, with projects spread across 39 countries. This growing international footprint places Vikram Solar among the leading global solar manufacturers and shows its ability to compete in overseas markets.
The company’s growth is supported by its focus on innovation and quality. It has been involved in several landmark projects, including the world’s first fully solar-powered airport in Cochin and early floating solar installations in India. It has also received recognition through inclusion in the BloombergNEF Tier 1 list, consistent ranking in the KIWA PVEL module reliability scorecard, and a ‘Platinum’ rating from EcoVadis, which reflects strong performance in sustainability and corporate responsibility.
In terms of manufacturing, Vikram Solar has established around 9.5 GW of module production capacity across facilities in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. Its 5 GW plant in Vallam is known for advanced automation and modern manufacturing systems. The company is also focusing on backward integration, with plans to expand its Gangaikondan facility to include 6 GW of module capacity and 12 GW of solar cell production.
Beyond solar modules, Vikram Solar is entering the energy storage segment through VSL Powerhive. It plans to set up a 5 GWh battery energy storage system facility by FY27. Additionally, its lithium battery brand VION will cater to residential and mobility backup solutions.
The company’s leadership has stated that crossing the 10 GW mark is not just a business achievement but also a sign of the growing importance of solar energy in the global energy mix. Going forward, Vikram Solar aims to focus on advanced technologies, stronger manufacturing, and integrated operations to support the next phase of clean energy growth.
