Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Power Grid Corporation of India Limited) has invited bids for a major transmission project involving the installation of synchronous condensers at the Barmer II HVDC Terminal Station in Rajasthan. The project is part of the larger transmission system being developed to evacuate power from the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Phase IV, which is aimed at supporting large-scale renewable energy integration into the national grid.

The tender, identified as CC/T/W-SYNCON/DOM/A00/26/05141, covers Package IV of the project. It includes the supply, installation, and commissioning of two synchronous condenser units at the Barmer II 6 GW solar complex. The location of the project is in Rajasthan, which has become one of Indiaโ€™s key renewable energy hubs due to its high solar potential and large land availability for utility-scale projects.

The Barmer II HVDC Terminal Station is a critical infrastructure point for transferring large amounts of solar power generated in the region to other parts of the country. The synchronous condensers being installed will help improve grid stability by providing reactive power support and strengthening the short-circuit capacity of the transmission system. This is especially important as increasing solar generation can create fluctuations in grid voltage and frequency. These machines will help balance such variations and ensure smooth power flow.

The project is being executed under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route, which encourages transparent and competitive participation from qualified domestic and international companies. It is classified as a global tender under the power and energy sector. Interested bidders can access all documents through the PRANIT portal using RFX Number 5002005275.

Financial details show that the tender fee is โ‚น25,000. At present, no Earnest Money Deposit is specified in the notice, but bidders are expected to follow detailed bank guarantee requirements mentioned in the bid documents. The performance security is typically between 3% and 10% of the contract value, depending on final contract conditions.

Key deadlines for the bidding process are tightly scheduled. The tender was published on April 13, 2026, at 7:00 PM. The pre-bid meeting will take place on April 17, 2026, at 11:30 AM, giving bidders an opportunity to clarify technical and commercial queries. The document sale ends on April 21, 2026, followed by the soft copy bid submission deadline on April 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM. The technical bid opening will also be held on April 23, 2026, at 11:30 AM.
