GoodWe Technologies Co., Ltd., a global Tier 1 manufacturer of solar inverters and battery energy storage systems, has supplied solar solutions powering a new clean energy installation at Oasis Mathare, an Information and Technology (IT) vocational training centre in the Mathare informal settlement of Nairobi, Kenya. Delivered in collaboration with GoodWe’s partners, the project equips the centre with reliable solar power supply that will sustain digital skills training for young learners in one of East Africa’s most underserved urban communities.

For years, students at Oasis Mathare have faced frequent power outages caused by an unstable grid, often interrupting lessons and limiting hands on time with computers. The newly installed GoodWe solar solution addresses this challenge directly, offering the centre stable, clean and uninterrupted electricity. The project illustrates how distributed solar generation can tackle energy poverty, strengthen energy resilience and unlock new opportunities for education, employment and digital inclusion across Sub Saharan Africa.

At the heart of the installation is the GoodWe Es Uniq 10kW hybrid inverter, paired with two sets of Lynx A G3 5kWh lithium battery energy storage systems, delivering a combined 10kWh of storage capacity. This configuration enables the training centre to capture solar energy throughout the day and draw on stored power whenever it is needed, whether to bridge daytime grid outages, extend operating hours into the evening, or maintain continuous performance during periods of low solar irradiance.

Key highlights of the Oasis Mathare solar project:

Reliable Clean Power: The GoodWe solar system supports daily IT classes without interruption, even during grid instability.

Hybrid Solar and Storage Configuration: The Es Uniq 10kW hybrid inverter and Lynx A G3 5kWh battery systems are engineered to perform efficiently in Kenya’s climate, ensuring strong return on investment and long-term reliability for weak grid environments.

Community Empowerment: Powering Oasis Mathare with renewable energy enables students from informal settlements to access digital skills training, bridging the digital divide and creating pathways toward better livelihoods.

According to GoodWe, solar energy remains one of the most powerful tools available to address energy poverty and unlock opportunity across Africa. The Oasis Mathare project demonstrates that reliable, efficient and scalable solar solutions can do more than light up a building. They can light up futures, equipping students with the digital skills needed to compete in a rapidly evolving economy, while extending clean energy access into neighbourhoods long underserved by conventional grid infrastructure.
