The delivery follows the company’s recent launch of India’s first indigenous 220kV m-GIS system and further expands TTDI’s portfolio of mobile high-voltage transmission solutions designed to support grid modernization, operational resilience, and the Government of India’s Make in India initiative.

According to TTDI, the 132kV m-GIS system was developed and manufactured in India by leveraging Toshiba’s global engineering expertise, advanced technology, and local manufacturing capabilities while incorporating POWERGRID’s specific technical, operational, quality, and safety requirements.

Commenting on the development, Hiroshi Furuta, Chairman and Managing Director of TTDI, said the delivery demonstrates the company’s commitment to providing innovative and locally engineered solutions that enhance transmission network reliability and operational flexibility.

The mobile GIS system has been designed to operate effectively under challenging field conditions and features a standardized “Connectโ€“Operateโ€“Disconnectโ€“Redeploy” configuration, enabling rapid deployment and redeployment across multiple locations. The compact and modular design allows the system to be transported using standard trailers, making it suitable for emergency response, temporary power requirements, transmission maintenance activities, and grid restoration efforts.

TTDI stated that the system is engineered to withstand transportation stresses and mechanical vibrations while maintaining critical electrical clearances and ensuring seamless integration into live transmission networks. Its compact footprint also makes it suitable for deployment in space-constrained environments and rapidly expanding transmission corridors.

The company noted that the 132kV m-GIS solution can serve a wide range of stakeholders, including transmission utilities, renewable energy developers, disaster response teams, and grid operators requiring fast and flexible mobile power infrastructure.

The delivery supports POWERGRID’s efforts to enhance transmission system reliability and strengthen India’s evolving power network as renewable energy capacity additions and electricity demand continue to increase.

Building on the successful deployment of the 220kV and 132kV mobile GIS systems, TTDI revealed that it is currently in advanced stages of developing an indigenous 400kV m-GIS system, which is expected to be delivered later this year.

The development underscores the growing emphasis on indigenous manufacturing and advanced transmission technologies aimed at improving grid resilience, reducing deployment timelines, and supporting India’s long-term energy transition objectives.
