EBRD Provides €10 Million Loan To Aversi Pharma To Modernise Pharmaceutical Logistics In Georgia

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is expanding its support for sustainable private-sector growth in Georgia with a loan of up to €10 million to Aversi Pharma, one of the country’s largest pharmaceutical and healthcare companies.The financing will be used to renovate and automate a newly acquired central warehouse in Tbilisi, enabling Aversi Pharma to modernise its logistics operations and consolidate activities into a single state-of-the-art distribution facility.

The upgraded warehouse will be designed to meet international good distribution practice standards, improving the efficiency and reliability of the company’s pharmaceutical supply chain.The project is fully aligned with the EBRD’s Green Economy Transition (GET) strategy and has been classified as 100% green.

Through advanced building design and modern automation technologies, the new facility is expected to achieve energy efficiency improvements of up to 40% compared with conventional operations.The warehouse will incorporate automated conveyors, robotics systems, and advanced warehouse management technologies, helping to optimise the use of space, streamline logistics processes, and reduce the overall carbon footprint of the company’s operations.

These upgrades are expected to improve operational efficiency while supporting Aversi Pharma’s long-term sustainability goals.The investment will also contribute to strengthening Georgia’s pharmaceutical supply chain. By establishing one of the country’s first highly automated pharmaceutical logistics centres, the project is expected to improve the storage and distribution of medicines, enhance supply-chain resilience, and support the reliable availability of healthcare products across Georgia.

Alongside the financing, the EBRD will support workforce development within the pharmaceutical sector through a dedicated technical cooperation programme. The initiative will focus on creating new digital training courses and an e-learning platform designed to improve employee skills and support professional development.

The programme is expected to benefit at least 1,000 employees and will promote broader access to training opportunities, including for underrepresented ethnic groups. By investing in workforce skills alongside infrastructure improvements, the project aims to support both technological advancement and inclusive growth within the industry.Aversi Pharma is one of the leading healthcare companies in Georgia and has been a longstanding client of the EBRD.
