Neoenergia and Brazil’s National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) have inaugurated the ANEEL Museum of Energy Efficiency in Brasília, establishing a new educational and cultural center aimed at promoting science education, energy efficiency, and sustainability awareness among students, educators, researchers, and the wider public.
Located on the ground floor of ANEEL’s headquarters in Brasília, the museum was developed through a Technical Cooperation Agreement between Neoenergia and the regulatory agency. The project, including its first year of operation, represents an investment of approximately BRL 5.3 million by Neoenergia Brasília under its Energy Efficiency Program (PEE), which is regulated by ANEEL.
The museum has been designed to enhance public understanding of electricity, renewable energy, and environmental sustainability through interactive learning experiences. According to the partners, the facility is expected to welcome more than 28,000 visitors annually while providing hands-on learning opportunities for approximately 13,000 participants each year through its dedicated Maker Space, which focuses on robotics, active learning methodologies, and practical science education.
The primary audience will include students, teachers, and researchers from both public and private educational institutions. Members of the general public will also be able to visit the museum through advance reservations and guided group tours.
The museum features 20 interactive exhibits covering topics such as electricity, physics, magnetism, optics, the evolution of Brazil’s electricity sector, renewable energy technologies, and environmental conservation. The exhibits are designed to encourage critical thinking through practical experimentation and interactive demonstrations.
Solange Ribeiro, Vice President of Neoenergia, said the museum reflects the company’s commitment to transforming knowledge into social progress by creating opportunities for young people and educators to better understand sustainability and responsible energy use.
Sandoval Feitosa, CEO of ANEEL, said the initiative represents an investment in future generations, noting that improving energy literacy can help shape more informed decisions on energy generation, consumption, and management in Brazil.
According to Neoenergia, the project forms part of the company’s broader commitment to supporting socio-environmental development in the regions where it operates by promoting responsible energy consumption, environmental stewardship, and sustainability education.
