Zelestra has achieved full commercial operation of its 27.5 MWdc Klevenow solar plant in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, marking the renewable energy company’s first project to become operational in the country.
The solar project was awarded through Germany’s EEG tenders and was completed in less than six months. The construction phase supported approximately 40 jobs, while the completed plant comprises around 42,300 solar panels.
Klevenow is expected to generate approximately 28,700 MWh of electricity annually and avoid around 9,500 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year. The project will support electricity demand from commercial and industrial consumers in the nearby Pomeranian Triangle.
Zelestra said two additional solar projects and its first battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Germany are expected to enter construction before the end of the year. These projects are expected to help the company expand its German renewable energy capacity to more than 200 MW.
The Klevenow project forms part of Zelestra’s accelerated growth strategy in Germany following its acquisition of East Energy in October 2024. The company’s German development pipeline currently exceeds 2 GW across solar, hybrid, wind and BESS projects.
Zelestra currently has 70 employees in Germany, with offices in Berlin, Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Rostock. The company said the commissioning of Klevenow establishes its operational presence in the German market and provides a platform for further renewable energy expansion.
