Entergy Arkansas Commissions New Frazier Pike Substation, Strengthening Power Infrastructure for Industrial Growth at Port of Little Rock

Entergy Arkansas has commissioned its new Frazier Pike Substation at the Port of Little Rock, marking an investment in electrical infrastructure aimed at supporting industrial growth and increasing power demand in the region.

The requirement for the new substation was identified in 2022 after projected electricity demand at the Port indicated the need for additional infrastructure. The facility will provide reliable power service to existing customers while adding capacity to accommodate future industrial development.

The substation will support major employers at the Port, including Welspun, Trex, Amazon and Faymonville. The infrastructure is also expected to strengthen the Port’s ability to attract additional investment to the adjacent certified Little Rock Megasite.

Since 2021, announced industrial projects at the Port have included developments by Trex, Elopak, Welspun, Faymonville and Amazon. These projects collectively represent approximately 2,575 announced jobs and $1 billion in announced investment.

The Frazier Pike Substation is being developed in multiple phases and will ultimately include three 50 MVA transformers. The first transformer was completed in December 2025, while the second was completed in May 2026. The third transformer is scheduled to be completed by December 1, 2028.

The project also includes additional capacitor banks and breakers planned for 2028, along with a new 115 kV transmission line scheduled for completion in 2029.

Danny Games, Vice President of Business and Economic Development at Entergy Arkansas, said the investment would provide the capacity required to support existing and future businesses, helping create an environment for further job creation and investment.

Jay Chesshir, President and CEO of the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce, said reliable electrical infrastructure is essential for attracting major industrial projects and strengthening the region’s economic competitiveness.

The new substation comes as the Port of Little Rock continues to experience industrial expansion, with Entergy Arkansas and regional economic development leaders positioning additional power infrastructure as a key enabler of future growth.
