Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Government of India enterprise, has approved a proposal to raise up to ₹5,000 crore through the private placement of debt securities. The decision was taken by the company’s Committee of Directors for Bonds during a meeting held on September 18, 2026.
The proposed fundraising will be carried out through the issuance of unsecured, non-convertible, non-cumulative and redeemable taxable POWERGRID Bonds – LXXXIV (84th) Issue 2026-27. The issue will have a base size of ₹1,000 crore and a green shoe option of ₹4,000 crore, taking the total issue size to a maximum of ₹5,000 crore.

Under the proposed repayment structure, annual redemption of principal will begin after the completion of the fourth year. However, the final coupon rate, interest rate and detailed schedule for coupon and principal payments will be determined through a bidding process on the Electronic Book Provider (EBP) platform.
POWERGRID stated that the bonds will not provide investors with any special rights, interests or privileges. The company also disclosed that there has been no default or delay exceeding three months in the payment of interest or principal on its securities.
The disclosure further stated that there are no adverse comments concerning asset security or payment obligations related to the proposed issue.
The fundraising proposal was formally disclosed to NSE and BSE under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations, 2015. The disclosure was signed by Anjana Luthra, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of POWERGRID.
