POWERCHINA has completed and handed over its 15.99 MW Francisco Juana photovoltaic (PV) project in Colombia, after receiving the certificate of acceptance of works from the project owner.
The project, located in Colombia’s Caldas Department, comprises the Francisco (Plant F) and Juana (Plant D) solar power plants. POWERCHINA was responsible for the project’s full engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) scope, covering design, procurement, international logistics, construction and installation, commissioning, grid connection, and handover.
The project was completed and handed over ahead of its contractual schedule after POWERCHINA fulfilled the required project obligations.
Once operational, the solar plants are expected to generate approximately 22.48 million kWh of clean electricity annually. The generation is expected to support local power supply, reduce regional electricity shortages, and contribute to the diversification of the local energy mix.
Local Employment and Project Execution
POWERCHINA said the project was executed under its quality, health, safety and environmental (QHSE) management system. The construction was completed with no reported safety incidents or environmental complaints, according to the company.
The project also incorporated a local employment strategy, creating more than 200 direct jobs, with local workers accounting for approximately 95% of the project workforce.
The Francisco Juana project is POWERCHINA’s second new energy plant completed and handed over in Colombia. The early completion is expected to strengthen the company’s presence in Colombia and support its expansion across the Latin American renewable energy market.
