Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) business has secured multiple engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) orders in India and overseas to strengthen power transmission infrastructure and support renewable energy integration.
In Saudi Arabia, L&T’s PT&D business has won orders in the 380 kV transmission and substation segments. The projects are aimed at augmenting transmission capacity, supporting renewable energy evacuation and strengthening the country’s power transmission network.
The projects are also expected to facilitate the integration of renewable energy into Saudi Arabia’s electricity grid as the country expands its clean energy capacity.
In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), L&T has secured an order for the construction of 132/11 kV substations along with associated cabling works.
In India, the company has received an order from a leading private-sector developer to establish a transmission system in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The scope includes the development of transmission lines and substations.
Joji Sebastian, Executive Vice President and Head – PT&D, L&T, said the latest order wins demonstrate the company’s engineering and project execution capabilities across different markets. He added that increasing demand for grid strengthening, renewable energy integration and associated infrastructure is creating opportunities for L&T to deploy its technology and project execution capabilities.
L&T’s PT&D business provides integrated EPC solutions across power transmission and distribution infrastructure. Its capabilities cover the design, manufacturing, supply, installation and commissioning of transmission lines, substations, underground cable networks, distribution networks, power quality improvement projects and infrastructure electrification projects.
The latest orders add to L&T’s portfolio of transmission and grid infrastructure projects across India and international markets, amid increasing investments in grid modernisation and renewable energy evacuation infrastructure.
L&T is an Indian multinational engaged in EPC projects, hi-tech manufacturing, products and services across multiple sectors and geographies.
Order classification: L&T classifies orders valued between ₹1,000 crore and ₹2,500 crore as Significant, ₹2,500 crore to ₹5,000 crore as Large, ₹5,000 crore to ₹10,000 crore as Major, ₹10,000 crore to ₹15,000 crore as Mega, and above ₹15,000 crore as Ultra-Mega.
