According to the data of the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry, 97% of the electricity generated in Turkey was from clean energy sources in the year 2021.
The total capacity of renewable energy during the same period was 3,446 MWs. In this, the share of the solar power was 14.5% with the capacity of 498 MW, and 51.5% share was of wind power.
The total capacity of the renewable energy of the country was 99,820 MW with a 53.7% share. Renewable energy in Turkey has grown significantly as the country is transitioning to clean energy technologies.
The largest share of renewable energy comes from hydroelectric power plants which are 31.5% and solar and wind energy is also gaining momentum slowly.
The country still needs more investment to limit the effects of climate change and needs to invest in clean and renewable energy. The cost of renewable energy is much less than fossil fuels.
