Power Finance Corporation (PFC) Chairman Ravinder Singh Dhillon has been given an additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of REC (formerly Rural Electrification Corporation Limited) for three months.
This development comes after S K G Rahate was elevated to the position of Secretary, Ministry of Powers (MoP).
“Government of India, vide order dated 10/02/2022 has informed that Ravinder Singh Dhillon (CMD, PFC) will take over the work of CMD, REC Ltd starting May 10, 2022. This will be in addition to his existing responsibilities for a period of 3 months or until further orders,” REC stated in a BSE filing.
Dhillon is not related to any other director of the company, it said.
As PFC’s CMD, he oversees the company’s operations and plays a crucial role in the implementation of key power sector initiatives.
His experience spans the entire value chain in the power sector and includes more than 36 years.
His varied work experience includes 3 years at Bharat Heavy Electrics Ltd (BHEL), 6 years in Central Electricity Authority (CEA), and 27 in PFC. He plays a crucial role in project appraisal, financial modeling, project monitoring, and stressed asset resolution..
Dhillon was previously Director (Projects) at PFC. He was responsible for asset quality and business growth. PFC shifted its focus to renewable energy and refinancing commissioned assets under his leadership.
Dhillon is a B.E. Dhillon holds a B.E. (Electrical), degree from Thapar Institute for Engineering & Technology, and a M Tech in Power Systems at IIT Delhi.
