BayWa r.e. has won eight projects in England and Scotland during the UK Contracts for Difference (CfD Allocation Round 4) process. This totals over 330MW of onshore wind and solar.

There have been four CfD allocation rounds to date. BayWa r.e. was the winner of Allocation Round Four (AR4). Eight renewable energy projects have been granted CfDs. This includes six solar projects totaling 236MW and two onshore wind projects totalling 98MW.

These projects represent an important contribution to securing the reliable, long-term supply of domestically-generated, renewable energy. These projects will support the UK government in its efforts to achieve its Net Zero emissions commitment by 2050 and the Net Zero emission electricity systems target by 2035.

John Milligan, Managing Director for BayWa r.e. UK stated, “In the face of climate and energy crises it is more important than ever before to deliver low-cost as well as zero-carbon energy to UK consumers. Implementing renewable projects is crucial to this. This is why we won the AR4 round. It is an amazing result for not only us, but for the entire industry.”

“The development and growth of BayWa r.e.’s portfolio was a team effort over several years. This round is a tremendous reward that recognizes the team’s determination. We are looking forward to continuing our work here in the UK, helping to achieve important sustainability milestones.”

CfDs is a UK government scheme to encourage investment in large-scale low-carbon electricity generation. The CfD auction allows renewable developers to submit sealed bids for contracts.
