After commissioning the final part of 21 MW capacity, NTPCโs 56 MW Kawas Solar PV Project in Gujarat is now fully functional.
According to the regulatory filing by the state-owned power company, the project was declared commercially viable on 15th August 2022.
Kawas Solar is a combination of 33 MW ground-mounted and 23 MW floating components. The plant will be installed in the existing NTPC Kawas Gas based power station. The project was funded by the CPSU Scheme Phase II Tranche I of the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy. Vikram Solar in EPC mode through the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Govt.
NTPC stated that its standalone commercial and installed capacity has increased to 55089 MW and its group commercial and installed capacity has increased to 69454 MW. This includes both coal- and gas-based power stations, as well as hydel, wind and solar power.
The state-owned power company has plans to generate 10 billion units of green energy by 2022-23 and create 35 GW energy capacity in renewable energy.
