Messe Muenchen India concluded its latest edition of The smarter E India Expo 2022 on an vibrant note. Renewable technologies have advanced in the last few years with various innovative products and solutions on offer. These innovations were witnessed at one of India’s leading energy exhibitions, The smarter E India Expo which includes Intersolar India, electrical energy storage India, and Power2Drive. The event, which has emerged as one of India’s premier hubs for the new energy world, proved to be an unmissable pitstop for the renewable energy sector in India. The 2022 edition of this trade fair was visited by some of the pioneering thought leaders in the renewable energy sector.
One of the leading conference speakers at The smarter E India Expo, Prof Ashok Jhunjhunwala from Indian Institute of Technology, said “There is no doubt that Indian industry must adopt green energy technologies and manufacturing processes to participate in India’s journey towards Net Zero. Of course, the industry is seeking greater returns on investment when it comes to renewable energy technologies, and that can be achieved through greater industry-academia partnerships. We must collectively strive to go from lab-scale solutions to large scale technology adoption. Platforms like Intersolar India help us to collaborate and exchange ideas on that front. I have had a good experience at The smarter E in Munich, and I am delighted to be here at the same platform in Gandhinagar.”
Representing bilateral energy cooperation at this platform, Dr. Nicole Glanemann, Deputy Head of the Division for Bilateral Energy Cooperation of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), said, “I am very delighted to see so many exhibitors and technology suppliers at this edition of The smarter E / Intersolar India 2022. Solar energy and grid integration of renewable energy is an important aspect of our bilateral energy partnership between India and Germany. Green hydrogen is also showing good potential for clean energy generation, and I am happy to see participation from these various aspects at this trade fair. I wish you all the best for future editions.”
Inspiring all participants with his 10-year long Energy Swaraj initiative, Prof Chetan Singh Solanki from IIT Bombay, said, “Platforms like Intersolar India help promote energy literacy using renewable energy. We are experiencing a climate crisis at this point, and all stakeholders must come together to promote and use renewable energy. The purpose of Energy Swaraj Yatra is to promote energy literacy to avoid and minimise wasteful energy usage, as well as generate clean energy through solar. This platform helps renewable energy technologies reach the masses through market operators and hence, I am delighted to be here at Intersolar India 2022.
All three exhibitions under one roof focussed on areas of photovoltaics, PV production, solar thermal technologies, batteries, electrical energy storage technologies and systems, electric mobility, and charging solutions. The exhibitors comprised manufacturers, suppliers, service providers, R&D institutes, NBFCs, project developers, EPC contractors, system providers and integrators, grid infrastructure providers, fuel cell manufacturers, and many more. The visitors to the event comprised installers and integrators, grid operators, manufacturers and suppliers, large-scale distributors, energy consultants, government officials and policymakers, architects and energy planners, investors, project developers, EPC contractors, urban planners, and more.
This year’s edition of The Smarter E India 2022 promoted green energy manufacturing in the country through conferences on timely topics such as the growth of solar installation through policies, opportunities and challenges in solar equipment manufacturing, the EV market outlook, the scope for green hydrogen and how India’s Green Hydrogen Mission catalyzes India’s green energy transition, scaling up of rooftop solar segment, the role of solar in achieving the net-zero targets, and more.
The prefixed buyer-seller meetings during the event facilitated high-value deals and niche procurements. It enabled participants to meet potential buyers to conduct their business and make meaningful partnerships.
Bhupinder Singh, CEO, Messe Muenchen India, said, “The footfalls at this edition have proved that renewables is quite literally the ‘sunrise’ sector of the Indian economy. We are happy with the response at The smarter E India show. It has yet again reaffirmed its position as a crucial platform to get acquainted with the renewable market in India and explore opportunities in the sector. Manufacturing in this sector has grown tremendously owing to growing demand, aggressive government initiatives, and the intent of the industry to shift towards a Net Zero economy. We are proud to support India’s renewable energy mission through our platform The smarter E India, along with its individual shows on Intersolar India, electrical energy storage India, and EV Asia (Power2Drive India).”
Exhibitors Speak
Rahul Bhutiani, Head – Sales & Marketing, Adani Solar
We have been participating at this platform for several years, and we see this as a good opportunity to deepen our understanding of the market as well as interact with our buyers, suppliers, distributors, and other partners. This year we are happy to see larger participation from raw material suppliers, which is beneficial for module manufacturers like us. This indicates good momentum in the renewable energy manufacturing space resulting in long-term Atmanirbharta.
Shaji John, Head of Sales & Business Development, South Asia, Middle East & Africa, Ohmium
Hydrogen is nothing new, but green hydrogen offers great potential to reduce emissions from manufacturing and processing industries. Today we are seeing successful use cases of green hydrogen application in fertiliser refineries, iron and steel, cement, chemicals, and automotives. We have been participating at Intersolar in Munich and we are delighted to be here at this platform in Gandhinagar. There have been good footfalls and interest in green hydrogen technologies here, and we are looking forward to more success at future editions of this trade show.
Vinay Thadani, Director, Grew Energy
This is a good platform for the entire solar manufacturing ecosystem. Today, there is tremendous opportunity to grow the renewable energy business both in India as well as in export markets. There are many supportive incentives from the government also, but we are lacking in terms of developing the ecosystem. With the launch of Grew Energy, we are striving to develop this ecosystem through manufacturing of allied solar components such as PV, EVA back sheets, and glass, in addition to solar cells and modules. Hence, we are happy to be at this platform and promote the solar manufacturing value chain.
Buyers Speak
Abhay Singh, Lead Procurement, ReNew Power
The scale of the show is excellent with lots of suppliers on the floor. This gives us the confidence to find the solutions that we are looking for. We have also had valuable interactions with some of the experienced teams of renowned model suppliers at buyer-seller forum.
Muralidhar Patil, General Manager, Bajaj Electricals Limited
I found the concept of buyer-seller forum unique. The platform gives a chance of interacting with the suppliers in detail which is otherwise not possible.
Ritik Kadwane, Assistant Manager, Strategic Sourcing, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited
This show has huge exhibition participation, and it is a great platform to meet solar panel manufacturers from across India. The buyer-seller forum is a unique concept where you get to interact with a lot of suppliers with ease.
