Enlight Renewable Energy Ltd, Israel’s special purpose vehicle is applying for permits to add a solar photovoltaic park and a BESS, battery energy storage system to its 300-MW Gecama wind farm in Spain’s Castile-La Mancha region.
In the official state gazette, the Spanish government announced that the proposed hybridization project would consist of the installation of a 250-MWac/250.08 MWp solar park as well as a 100 MW BESS with a storage capacity of 2 hours.
The project sponsor intends to install approximately 435,000 bifacial solar photovoltaic modules on 8,364 single-axis trackers. The BESS facility will feature around 80 battery containers. This project also compromises of construction of a substation and related infrastructure.
According to the notice in the state gazette, the budget for the entire setup is approximately EUR 175.9 million.
