The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Iraq’s Ministry of Electricity with Siemens Energy in Berlin. This was during the official visit of Mohammed Al-Sudani, Iraqi Prime Minister, to Germany.
The MoU was signed by the Iraqi Minister for Electricity, Ziyad Ali Fadal, as well as CEO of Siemens Energy, Christian Bruch. It included several key components that form an action plan to develop the electrical industry in Iraq.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Electricity, Siemens is creating a comprehensive strategy to manage the entire electrical system in Iraq. This includes the construction of new power stations. In addition to analyzing Iraq, the MoU will also include a detailed analysis of how associated gas might help and boost electricity output.
The agreement between Siemens and the Ministry of Electricity emphasized the importance of clean electricity. The MoU included the execution of renewable energy projects, including solar and wind energy, along with the construction of transmission stations throughout Iraq.
Al-Sudani, the CEO of Siemens Energy, reaffirmed the resolve of the Iraqi government to contribute the funds necessary to execute the MoU with Siemens while meeting at the Berlin residence the Prime Minister.
