SUSI Partners Successfully Concludes Final Close of Energy Transition Fund for Southeast Asia

SUSI Partners, a leading investment firm, has recently concluded the final closing of the SUSI Asia Energy Transition Fund (SAETF). The fund, with a total commitment of USD 120 million, focuses on investing in energy transition infrastructure throughout Southeast Asia. Notably, the fund has already made significant investments in utility-scale renewable energy generation, energy efficiency projects, and distributed solar PV solutions catering to commercial and industrial clients. The investor base of SAETF comprises seven development finance institutions and a group of private investors. The initial close of the fund secured commitments from prominent institutions such as the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Dutch FMO, and Nordic DFIs Norfund and Swedfund. Subsequently, the fund attracted additional commitments from Austrian OeEB, British International Investment (BII), and BIO, the Belgian Investment Company for Developing Countries.

Terengganu Inc successfully inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Feasibility Study to Develop Floating Solar Photovoltaic (FSPV) in Kenyir Power Stations with TNB Power Generation Sdn Bhd (TNB Genco), allowing research towards one of the most extensive floating solar panels in South East Asia. Present as signatories during the signing event were our President and Executive Director, YBhg Encik Burhanuddin Hilmi bin Mohamed Harun and the Senior Vice President of Group Corporate Strategy & Planning, Encik Mohd Farouk bin Mohd Ariffin. Meanwhile, TNB Genco was represented by its Managing Director, YBhg Dato’ Nor Azman bin Mufti with the Head of Business Development and Commercial, YBhg Dato’ Mohd Hisham bin Ab Halim.

GPSC And Meranti Forge Strategic Cooperation For Renewable Solutions In Thailand’s New Green Steel Plant

Today marks an important step forward for Meranti’s new green steel project in Thailand, as Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited (GPSC), Thailand, and Meranti Steel Pte. Ltd., Singapore, announced strategic cooperation. The cooperation aims to establish renewable solutions including offsite solar & wind energy and a future green hydrogen supply chain for one of South-East Asia’s first green steel projects. The partnership, formalized with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), highlights both companies’ commitment to driving industrial decarbonisation. In attendance at the signing were the Executive Vice President of Business Development of GPSC, Dr Rosaya Teinwan, and the CEO of Meranti Steel, Dr Sebastian Langendorf.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries And TNB Genco Join Forces To Drive Clean Energy Transition In Malaysia

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) and Malaysia’s largest power producer, TNB Power Generation Sdn. Bhd. (TNB Genco), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to study and exchange information related to clean energy technologies. The MoU will help drive the energy transition in Malaysia and support its goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. Under the MoU, MHI with support from its power solutions brand, Mitsubishi Power, and TNB Genco will conduct studies that examine three key areas related to clean power generation. These include the hydrogen and ammonia value chain in relation to hydrogen production and supply, logistics, storage and related infrastructure; low carbon fuel co-combustion technology in thermal plants; and CO2 capture.

Mr. Yothin Damnernchanvanit President of National Power Supply Public Company Limited or NPS revealed that the company has successfully completed the installation of the first phase of the 60 MW floating solar power plant or “Floating Solar Farm” on the well. TMD and EGAT signed an MoU to exchange information on meteorology and hydrology to develop a forecasting system for electricity demand and electricity generation from renewable energy to enhance the stability and security of the power system. Dr Chomparee Chompurat, Director-General of the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD), and Mr Boonyanit Wongrukmit, Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to exchange information on meteorology and hydrology on June 13, 2023, at the EGAT 50th Anniversary Building, EGAT Headquarters, Nonthaburi Province.

DEWA And Singapore Consul-General Discuss Collaboration In Renewable Energy And Infrastructure Sectors

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), welcomed HE Raziff Aljunied, Consul-General of the Republic of Singapore to Dubai. This is part of the diplomatic and consular visits to DEWA. The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the renewable and clean energy, water, and infrastructure sectors. Al Tayer welcomed the Consul General of Singapore, emphasising the distinguished relations between the UAE and Singapore, which has resulted in cooperation in renewable and clean energy, energy storage, smart grids and water, strengthening economic relations and exploring joint investment opportunities across various sectors, including infrastructure and technology.
