Rating agency EcoVadis has once again awarded SMA Solar Technology AG a gold medal for successful sustainability management. This puts SMA among the top five percent of companies assessed by EcoVadis worldwide. This is the second time in succession that the company has received the gold medal. The ratings and scorecards from EcoVadis show how well a company has integrated the principles of sustainability into its business and management system.
The ratings focus on four categories: environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. EcoVadis has certified that SMA operates an advanced sustainability management system covering all four topics. SMA even managed to improve on its score from last year in the labor and human rights and sustainable procurement categories.
“The once again very good evaluation in the demanding EcoVadis rating underscores the high importance of sustainability for SMA,” said SMA CEO Jürgen Reinert. “Holistic sustainability in all areas of the company is one of the key objectives at the heart of our Strategy 2025. Excellent ESG ratings such as the EcoVadis gold medal give us assurance that we are on the right track for attaining this ambitious goal.”
Nominated for the 2024 German Sustainability Award
In July, SMA had already been nominated as a “pioneer of transformation” in the field of energy generation technology for the 2024 German Sustainability Award for companies. The Award is the biggest and most prestigious of its kind in Europe. The finalists will be announced in September.
