Since 2020, Meta has been committed to harnessing 100% renewable energy to fuel its global endeavors. The True North project is aligned to support Meta’s upcoming data center in Temple City, its second data center in Texas. Scheduled for operation in early 2025, the True North project marks Avangrid’s inaugural solar farm initiative in Texas. The development and operational phases are expected to generate over 200 job opportunities, while contributing more than $40 million in property taxes over 25 years. Avangrid has already established a strong presence in Texas with a portfolio of more than 1,250 MW from onshore wind facilities.

“We are very pleased to announce this milestone, which reflects our unwavering commitment to advancing the clean energy transition and building a more sustainable future for all,” said Pedro Azagra, CEO of Avangrid. “With projects like True North, we continue our mission to help the country meet its ambitious energy goals, while creating quality jobs and strengthening our local economies.
