SCG Cleanergy, a leading provider of integrated solar energy solutions, and Centara, a prominent Thai hotel chain, have joined forces to introduce Smart Energy technology in Centara hotels and resorts. The collaboration aims to transform Centara properties into Smart Hotels, utilizing renewable energy sources and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Under this partnership, SCG Cleanergy and Centara will collaborate on the integration of solar energy into Centara’s facilities. Smart Grid technology managed through the SCG Cleanergy Platform will be deployed within Centara hotels and resorts. The initiative aligns with sustainability goals to increase the use of renewable energy, ultimately reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 20% by 2029.
The Centara Grand Hotel at Central World will be the first property in the chain to incorporate renewable energy from SCG Cleanergy as its primary energy source. The hotel will install solar panels capable of generating up to 861.35 kilowatts of electricity on its rooftop, expected to reduce carbon dioxide equivalent emissions from electricity use by 540 tons per year.
This clean energy project is part of Centara’s comprehensive sustainability plan, which includes reducing energy and water consumption, decreasing greenhouse gas emissions, and minimizing waste sent to landfills by 20% compared to the 2019 baseline. These initiatives demonstrate Centara’s commitment to environmentally responsible operations and sustainable environmental management.
