LONGi’s Utility MEA&CA President, Jin Jian, Engages in High-Stakes Meeting with Egyptian Prime Minister

On November 15th, local time, Jin Jian, the President of Utility MEA&CA of LONGi, along with a delegation, met with the Prime Minister and Chairman of the Ministerial Council, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, at the Prime Minister’s Office in Cairo. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Mohamed Shaker, the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy in Egypt. Together, they discussed leveraging technological innovation to support the energy transition in the Middle East and Africa region.

The Prime Minister of Egypt extended a warm welcome to the delegation from LONGi. During the meeting, President Jin not only presented an overview of LONGi but also emphasized LONGi’s continuous attention to market demands and a steadfast focus on technological innovation. He highlighted LONGi’s commitment to creating a comprehensive set of ‘Green Electricity’ + ‘Green Hydrogen’ products and solutions that support global zero-carbon development. This strategic direction reflects LONGi’s distinctive capabilities and strength, shaped in response to market dynamics and customer needs. The LONGi team further briefed the Prime Minister on the global need for 600 to 800 million tons of green hydrogen annually to achieve net-zero emissions, highlighting that Egypt has the potential to produce billions of tons of green ammonia annually, one of the green hydrogen products. The vast prospects of solar resources in Egypt were emphasized, with preliminary estimates suggesting that these plans could address employment for hundreds of thousands of people. various challenges in Egypt, including desalination, increasing freshwater resources, expanding agricultural areas, controlling population density, and boosting crop yields.

Recognizing Egypt’s unique geographical advantages and abundant solar resources, President Jin expressed strong affirmation for the development potential of the local green electricity and green hydrogen market in Egypt. He stated that LONGi is committed to actively participating in Egypt’s renewable energy transition and development, expanding application scenarios, and concurrently supporting Egypt in becoming a production and export hub for renewable energy in Europe and the Middle East.

The Prime Minister extended a warm welcome to the LONGi delegation and highly praised LONGi’s capabilities. He welcomed the energy solutions proposed by LONGi, which align closely with the strategic needs of the region of Egypt. The Prime Minister expressed the hope that LONGi, with its ‘Green Electricity + Green Hydrogen’ approach and technology, would assist Egypt in exploring potential, finding opportunities, and realizing a strategic energy transformation for the benefit of the Egyptian people. He also expressed the desire for further discussions with LONGi to explore the feasibility of projects and make better preparations for project implementation in the future.
