The collaboration aims to establish and operate a rooftop solar system at Honda’s manufacturing site in Tanauan, marking a significant milestone in the renewable energy landscape of the Philippines.

The eco-friendly initiative is tailored to capitalize on the abundant sunlight prevalent throughout the year in the Philippines, offering a consistent and sustainable source of electricity. The planned solar system boasts a capacity of 1,057kWp and is anticipated to generate approximately 15GWh of renewable power over its operational lifespan. This aligns seamlessly with Honda’s commitment to sustainability, actively contributing to a substantial reduction in the carbon footprint of its operations.

As Skye Renewables and Honda Philippines embark on this solar power generation venture, the future of renewable energy in the Philippines appears brighter than ever. Gary Espino, Head of Skye Renewables Philippines, expressed gratitude, stating, “We are truly honored to have been selected by Honda to be their solar partner in the Philippines. Our development partner, Idemitsu Kosan Co., has worked with Honda for many years, so we are delighted to add energy-as-a-service to this enduring relationship.”

Honda Philippines’ President, Sayaka Arai-Hattori, emphasized the significance of the initiative, stating, “This is truly a milestone for Honda Philippines, Inc., because Honda has taken the initiative in the environmental commitment to realize carbon neutrality for all Honda products and corporate activities by 2050.”
