Grenergy has secured €175 million in green financing for the construction of the José Cabrera and Tabernas solar plants, situated in Guadalajara and Almería, respectively. The funding, facilitated by Banco Santander, MUFG, and Natixis, encompasses green loan financing along with additional credit lines, designated for financing 300 MW of renewable energy projects.
The Tabernas plant, boasting a capacity of 250 MW, is poised to generate an estimated annual production capacity of 466.6 GWh. Upon operationalization, it is projected to provide green energy to over 126,300 households, effectively averting the emission of over 127,380 tons of CO2 annually. Meanwhile, the José Cabrera solar plant, with a capacity of 47 MW, anticipates an annual production capacity of 90.5 GWh, benefiting approximately 24,500 households and preventing the emission of over 24,707 tons of CO2 annually.
Both projects are integral to the sale agreement inked last year with Allianz Capital Partners for €270.6 million, encompassing the turnkey project of both plants. The transfer of these assets is slated for the first half of 2025.
Grenergy boasts a robust track record in terms of its project pipeline and value creation through its assets. With a 15.5GW platform in various stages of development and the successful sale of a total of 1.1GW, the company remains steadfast in its commitment to sustainable finance.
Emi Takehara, Grenergy’s CFO, expressed gratitude for the support received from global benchmark companies like Banco Santander, MUFG, and Natixis, underscoring the company’s leadership in sustainable finance.
