TotalEnergies, in collaboration with Altergie Développement, has inaugurated the Hauconcourt photovoltaic power plant in Moselle, boasting a capacity of 14 MWp. Located across the communes of Hauconcourt, Argancy, and Woippy, the installation has transformed an abandoned iron ore quarry into a productive energy site after more than two decades of disuse.
Spanning 18 hectares, the ground-mounted solar array features 26,600 photovoltaic panels mounted on trackers, designed to optimize energy production. The plant is expected to generate over 17 GWh of electricity annually.
Alexandre Morin, Development Director at TotalEnergies Renouvelables France, highlighted the significance of the Hauconcourt project, noting that it contributes to TotalEnergies’ total installed capacity in France, which now exceeds 2 GW, including 375 MW in the Grand Est region.
Jean-Charles Lavigne Delville, President of Altergie Développement, emphasized the collaborative success between the two companies, noting that the Hauconcourt plant marks their third joint venture following the Boyer and Méry solar power plants. Altergie Développement currently boasts 65 MWp commissioned, with an additional 45 MWp under construction and 140 MWp in development.
The inauguration of the Hauconcourt photovoltaic power plant underscores a significant step forward in sustainable energy production and represents a notable achievement in repurposing industrial sites for renewable energy generation.
