The solar power sector saw the most significant growth, increasing by 20.1 GW, or 27.9%, from 72.02 GW in October 2023 to 92.12 GW in October 2024. In total, the solar capacity, including ongoing and tendered projects, reached 250.57 GW, up from 166.49 GW the previous year. Wind energy also experienced steady growth, with its installed capacity rising by 7.8%, from 44.29 GW in October 2023 to 47.72 GW in October 2024. The total wind capacity in the pipeline now stands at 72.35 GW.

In the period from April to October 2024, India added 12.6 GW of renewable energy capacity, with 1.72 GW added in October alone, reflecting a faster transition to renewable energy. The number of renewable energy projects under implementation and tendered has also grown. As of October 2024, there were 143.94 GW of projects under implementation and 89.69 GW tendered, a significant increase from 99.08 GW and 55.13 GW, respectively, in October 2023.
