Nahdi and Emerge Partner to Power IMDAD with Rooftop Solar in Support of Saudi Vision 2030

In support of Saudi Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative, Nahdi Medical Company, the Kingdomโ€™s largest retail pharmacy chain, has entered into a strategic partnership with Emergeโ€”a joint venture between Masdar and the EDF Groupโ€”to develop a rooftop solar power project for its IMDAD Distribution Center.

The 3 megawatt-peak (MWp) solar installation will be developed under a 15-year agreement, during which Emerge will deliver a comprehensive turnkey solution. This includes financing, design, procurement, construction, operations, and maintenance for the entire duration of the contract. Once operational, the system is expected to avoid over 3,000 tonnes of COโ‚‚ emissions annuallyโ€”equivalent to the electricity consumption of approximately 625 households in a year.

Eng. Yasir Jamal, Chief Supply Chain Officer at Nahdi, said: โ€œAs a proud national Saudi company and the Kingdomโ€™s leading pharmacy retailer, Nahdi is fully aligned with the ambitions of Vision 2030. Developing strategic partnerships is a core element of our strategy, and our collaboration with Emerge reflects our deep commitment to sustainability and clean energyโ€”key pillars in building a healthier and more vibrant future for our Guests and for the Kingdom. By embracing renewable energy, we affirm our environmental responsibility and continue to enhance the long-term value we bring to the community. This initiative further reinforces our role in the healthcare sector and our mission to add beats to the lives of our Guests every day.โ€

Michel Abi Saab, General Manager of Emerge, added: โ€œThe abundant, year-round sunshine in Saudi Arabia makes solar power the obvious choice for any business looking to transform its energy supply to a cleaner, greener power source. Our turnkey solutions, with no upfront costs, make it as easy as can be for those ready to make the jump. Weโ€™re excited to support Nahdi on its sustainability journey and contribute to the broader goals of Vision 2030.โ€

Emerge, established in 2021, specializes in developing distributed solar, battery storage, off-grid solar, and hybrid solutions for commercial and industrial clients. The company currently provides clean energy to over 40 sites across sectors such as industry, education, and hospitality in the region.

This collaboration between Nahdi and Emerge exemplifies a shared commitment to environmental stewardship and advancing sustainable practices across the Kingdom. It also represents a significant milestone in Nahdi’s broader mission to integrate clean energy into its operations and contribute meaningfully to national sustainability goals.
