In a major milestone for its international clean energy ambitions, SANY has successfully delivered its first overseas hydrogen production and refueling system to a customer in Australia. This follows the company’s strategic partnership established in April 2024, marking the first time SANY has exported its advanced hydrogen technology beyond China.

The custom-built 200Nmยณ/h skid-mounted hydrogen production and refueling equipment was officially delivered on May 20. It builds on SANYโ€™s achievement of constructing the largest integrated hydrogen production and refueling station in China, and represents a critical step in bringing its green energy solutions to the global market.

High-Efficiency Hydrogen Refueling with Advanced Technology

The Australian project uses state-of-the-art flexible electrolysis hydrogen production technology and an integrated control system for consistent, high-efficiency performance. The system includes dual-stage supercharging with hydrogen storage at both 50 MPa and 90 MPa, enabling rapid refueling for a wide range of vehiclesโ€”from 35 MPa commercial trucks to 70 MPa passenger cars. “SANY is accelerating its transition toward decarbonization and green growth, contributing a green force to the industry,” said Xiang Wenbo, Chairman of SANY Heavy Industry.

This flexibility makes it ideal for both commercial and everyday use, ensuring fast, safe refueling at a single station.

Certified to Global Safety Standards

To ensure compliance with Australian and international standards, the system has been fully certified by Bureau Veritas (BV) and TรœV SรœD. Key certifications include:

  • AS 3000 Electrical Safety: Meets Class 2, the highest standard in Australia.
  • ASME/AS1200 Dual Pressure Vessel Certification: Includes the ASME U3 stamp, supporting more than 20,000 cycles of fatigue life.
  • SAE J2601 Protocol Test: Confirms safe and efficient hydrogen refueling for 70 MPa vehicles in under 3 minutes.

Safety-First Design and Engineering

SANYโ€™s development process emphasizes design-driven safety. The engineering team carried out comprehensive safety and risk assessments throughout development, including Hazard Identification (HAZID), Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP), Safety Integrity Level (SIL) analysis, and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA). These measures ensure early risk detection and support the creation of intelligent, resilient hydrogen systems.
