Innova and Atrato Onsite Energy have successfully reached financial close on the Wrexham Solar Park, a fully consented 15MWp solar project located in Wales. The milestone marks a key development in the UKโs transition to cleaner energy, with construction set to begin immediately. The project is scheduled for energisation in the first half of 2026.
Atrato Onsite Energy has acquired the ready-to-build site from Innova and appointed Sunnerg Ltd as the EPC contractor, with OCU Hornbill Ltd serving as the Independent Connections Provider. Once operational, the solar park will supply power via a private wire connection to Dลตr Cymru Welsh Water (DCWW), under a landmark 40-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)โone of the longest private wire PPAs in the UK.
The clean energy generated will support DCWWโs Five Fords sewage treatment works, serving approximately 100,000 residents in the Wrexham area. Additionally, DCWW will upgrade its internal grid infrastructure at the facility, enhancing the reliability and robustness of its power supply.
Christian Miller, Investment Director at Innova, expressed satisfaction with the projectโs transition, stating: โThis divestment to Atrato Onsite Energy supports our shared Net Zero goals. We appreciate DCWWโs continued support throughout the development and look forward to future collaborations.โ
Gurpreet Gujral, CEO of Atrato Onsite Energy, highlighted the significance of the project: โThis is our first renewable venture in Wales, and the long-term PPA ensures clean, low-cost energy for decades. Solar has a critical role to play in powering essential water infrastructure. Wrexham Solar Park will be our eighth solar site directly connected to a UK water utility.โ
The project further reinforces Atratoโs portfolio and showcases the potential of private wire solar PPAs in supporting utility decarbonisation across the UK.
