Sungrow, the global leader in PV inverter and energy storage solutions, announced that all dynamic models of its inverters sold in Brazil have been officially approved by the National Electric System Operator (ONS). This landmark approval confirms full compliance with Brazil’s stringent grid requirements, ensuring Sungrow’s inverters accurately simulate dynamic behavior during grid disturbances such as electromechanical and electromagnetic transients.

The approval reinforces Sungrow’s role in supporting the reliability and modernization of Brazil’s energy infrastructure, especially as inverter-based resources play an increasing role in the country’s renewable energy mix. “This achievement reinforces our commitment to delivering high-performance, grid-compliant solutions that contribute to the stability and modernization of Brazil’s national power system,” said Ada Li, Vice President of Sungrow Americas, commenting on the occasion.

The certification follows a growing national focus on inverter performance, prompted by a large-scale blackout in August 2023. The event exposed gaps in the ability of wind and solar power plants to respond to system disturbances and highlighted the need for verified low-voltage ride-through (LVRT) and reactive power support capabilities. In October 2023, ONS responded with Report RAP 0012/2023, launching a national initiative to evaluate inverter and power plant controller (PPC) models.
