In a move to strengthen national expertise in the energy sector, the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE) is supporting a specialized international training initiative for Saudi female students. The “Renewable Energy and Sustainability Summer Program” is currently underway in Japan, targeting renewable energy engineering students from Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University.
Spanning four weeks, the program is taking place across several Japanese cities including Tokyo, Kansai, Kyushu, Fukushima, and Tohoku. It is being conducted in partnership with the University of Tokyo and prominent academic and research institutions in Japan.
The program aims to enhance scientific and practical knowledge in renewable energy and sustainability. Students are participating in field visits to power generation facilities, attending expert-led lectures, and engaging in supervised research experiments.
Managed by KACAREโs Energy Capacity Building Sector, the initiative reflects the organizationโs strategic commitment to developing Saudi Arabiaโs next generation of energy professionals. The sector is overseeing coordination with international partners and providing both academic and financial support to the participants.
This initiative forms part of KACAREโs broader mission to empower national talent and foster sustainable development in line with the Kingdomโs long-term energy goals.
