JA Solar Establishes Global Benchmark with TÜV Rheinland’s First Certification for PV Cell Power Measurement Uncertainty

JA Solar’s Shanghai R&D laboratory isnow the first vendor in the global photovoltaic industry to receive TÜV Rheinland’s certification for power measurement uncertainty in solar cells. This milestone sets a new international benchmark for precision and reliability in photovoltaic testing, reinforcing JA Solar’s technical leadership in solar cell performance evaluation.

The certification was issued by TÜV Rheinland, a globally recognized independent testing, inspection, and certification organization. The assessment was conducted in accordance with IEC standards and included a comprehensive review of equipment performance, measurement protocols, quality management systems, and personnel expertise under standard test conditions (STC).

JA Solar’s laboratory achieved a maximum power measurement uncertainty of less than 2% (k=2), placing it among the most precise PV testing facilities worldwide. This level of accuracy supports critical functions across the photovoltaic value chain.

In research and development, low measurement uncertainty enables reliable evaluation of new materials, cell structures, and manufacturing processes, thus accelerating innovation and improving decision-making. In large-scale production, precise measurement enables accurate product binning, optimized material utilization, and enhanced performance assurance, contributing directly to operational efficiency and product competitiveness.

At the industry level, standardized and high-precision measurement methodologies help reduce data discrepancies, improve interoperability across the supply chain, and minimize commercial disputes. JA Solar’s certified approach advances global testing standards and supports greater alignment among stakeholders.
