Amid ongoing global geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions, the United States has reiterated its commitment to collaborate with India in advancing energy security and economic growth.

Speaking at the 3rd Energy Summit of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC), Ms. Xiabing Feng, Principal Commercial Officer at the US Embassy in India, emphasized that the US is prepared to support India by exporting world-class products and services in sectors such as oil, gas, nuclear power, and emerging energy technologies.

โ€œAs we look into the future, the United States remains committed to working with India through the export of high-quality world-class products and services, to help India achieve its goals of energy security and economic growth,โ€ Ms. Feng said. She further noted that collaboration between the two countries could bring transformative change in the global energy landscape.

Highlighting challenges posed by geopolitical instability and disruptions in supply chains, Ms. Feng stressed the importance of secure energy systems. She also underscored the USโ€™s role as a major supplier of oil and liquefied natural gas to India, recalling that energy security had been a key point of discussion during Prime Minister Narendra Modiโ€™s visit to the US.

โ€œThe United States and India share a commitment to diversify energy resources and enhance infrastructure. By leveraging American expertise in natural gas, nuclear energy, and emerging technologies, the US can support Indiaโ€™s ambitious goals for energy security and grid modernization,โ€ she added.

The inaugural session of the summit also featured insights from Indian industry leaders. Mr. Vinay Rustagi, Chief Business Officer at Premier Energies Ltd, noted Indiaโ€™s significant progress in renewable energy installations and solar component manufacturing. He emphasized that with continued policy support, the country could scale up manufacturing of wafers and ingots for solar modules. However, he flagged land acquisition and transmission as persistent execution challenges.

Dr. Atul Chauhan, Regional President of IACC and Chancellor of Amity University, called for greater cooperation between India and the US in securing critical minerals, expanding solar module manufacturing, advancing nuclear technologies, and investing in grid modernization. โ€œCollaboration can unlock not only technology transfer but also co-investments in resilient ecosystems,โ€ he said.
