Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Limited has announced an important international achievement with the securing of a new contract in South Africa. The company has won an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction contract for a 240 MW AC solar photovoltaic project. The value of this order is around USD 147 million, which is approximately ₹1,313 crore. This is the company’s second major order from South Africa in the ongoing financial year and comes within just two months of another recent project win.
The company said that this development strengthens its position in the fast-growing South African solar power market. Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy is already working on four separate turnkey solar PV projects in the region, each awarded by a different well-known developer. It explained that two projects secured in the previous fiscal year have already shown strong progress on the ground. This operational performance has helped build trust and has allowed the company to expand its footprint further. With two new contracts added this year, its presence in South Africa is now stronger than ever.
The solar energy market in South Africa is currently growing at a rapid pace. The growth is driven by increasing demand from industries and businesses for reliable energy sources, continuous reductions in solar technology costs, and the urgent requirement for strengthening grid stability. Many companies are turning toward renewable power to ensure energy security, especially because of unstable supply conditions in recent years. The company’s Global CEO, Mr. Chandra Kishore Thakur, expressed happiness about the new project win. He said that South Africa is an important market for the company’s global expansion. He added that being chosen by four different customers for four simultaneous projects reflects the company’s strong technical expertise and reliable performance. He committed that the company will continue delivering high-quality clean energy projects that support sustainability goals.
This latest order has pushed the company’s total EPC order inflows for the current fiscal year to more than ₹5,088 crore. The company said this shows that the order momentum remains strong and that it expects continued growth from both India and international markets.
