BayWa r.e. has completed the sale of two solar projects in France โ the 21 MWp Giรจvres solar park and the 23 MWp Salsigne-Villardonnel Agri-PV installation โ to Heling enr, marking a significant step in advancing renewable energy and sustainable land use in the region.
The Giรจvres project, located on a 19-hectare former sand quarry left unused since the late 2010s, is designed to integrate smoothly into the local environment. Once operational, it is expected to generate around 25 GWh of renewable electricity annually, equivalent to the consumption of approximately 10,000 people. The development also protects existing wetland areas and incorporates eco-grazing with sheep to enhance biodiversity.
The Salsigne-Villardonnel project, initiated by a local farmer, represents a major advancement in Franceโs Agri-PV segment. With a capacity of 23 MWp, the site aims to improve livestock conditions in a dry mountain region severely impacted by drought. The project features monopile structures that enable free animal movement while shielding pastures. The installation is projected to produce about 34 GWh of electricity per year โ exceeding the energy needs of nearby municipalities.
BayWa r.e. will continue its involvement by managing operations and maintenance for both sites on behalf of Heling enr. The companyโs technical team, which currently oversees more than 1 GW of renewable energy assets in France, will monitor the performance of over 73,000 solar modules while ensuring compliance with environmental and agricultural commitments.
Commenting on the transaction, Martina Dabo, President of BayWa r.e. France, stated that the sale reflects strong momentum in a core market for the company. She highlighted the projects as examples of BayWa r.e.โs expertise in Agri-PV and land revitalisation, noting their dual benefits for renewable energy generation and local biodiversity.
Dr. Daniel Gaefke, COO of BayWa r.e., said the deal underscores the companyโs ability to deliver high-quality projects that combine technical excellence with environmental and social value. He added that partnerships with investors such as Heling enr contribute to Europeโs energy transition by ensuring solar developments support local communities and accelerate decarbonisation efforts.
